In 2017, we have seen two key Asian nations, Thailand and Indonesia, announcing accession to the Madrid Protocol for the International Registration of Trade Marks. Now it was the turn of Afghanistan.
WIPO has announced that the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan deposited its instrument of accession to the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks on 26 March 2018.
The Madrid Protocol (1989) will enter into force, with respect to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, on 26 June 2018. The country will become the 101st member of the Madrid System, which will cover 117 countries.
